About the Role

Research Scientist role focused on applying scientific methods to learning and credentialing challenges at AWS Training & Certification. Conducts experiments, analyzes data, and translates research into actionable insights to improve learning experiences. Works with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in how people learn and interact with technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct scalable research projects addressing learning and credentialing opportunities
• Analyze data using advanced statistical methodologies to identify patterns and drive recommendations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
• Communicate research findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to strategic planning, goals, priorities, and technical roadmaps

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Master's degree or above in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
• 4+ years of quantitative field research experience
• Experience investigating feasibility of applying scientific principles to business problems and products
• Experience analyzing both experimental and observational data sets

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of R, MATLAB, Python or similar scripting language
• Experience with agile development
• Experience in causal modeling like graphical models, causal Bayesian network, potential outcomes, A/B testing
• Experience in machine learning, statistics, and deep learning
• Experience with various machine learning techniques and parameters that affect their performance
