About the Role

As a Staff Engineer at Axle, you will guide the core platform for insurance data APIs, building scalable systems and AI-driven data integrations. You'll have ownership over product areas and work directly with the founding team to solve complex problems at the intersection of data structuring and financial risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain durable, scalable systems processing millions of data transactions monthly
• Implement API-driven interfaces for turn-key usage of the data platform
• Design novel AI-led techniques to increase accuracy and reliability of data integrations
• Own large areas of product and engineering with direct customer relationships
• Work with the CTO and founding members to help build out the team

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• 6+ years of experience building complex software systems in production environments
• Perspective on common system patterns (e.g., state machines, event brokers) and API design
• Experience deploying AI/ML systems into production environments
• Ability to take abstract projects end-to-end with high agency

Nice to Have:

• Experience at high-growth startups and understanding of high velocity
• Experience in fintech or data aggregation
