About the Role

The Senior Manager, Data Science leads the Generative AI Innovation Center at AWS, helping customers accelerate generative AI adoption and build bespoke solutions. This role involves managing technical teams, collaborating with customers on AI implementations, and driving innovation in areas like Responsible AI and Agentic AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with ML scientists, engineers and architects to research, design, and develop Generative and Agentic AI solutions
• Interact with customers to understand business problems and guide implementation of AI solutions
• People management responsibilities including leading teams driving incubation efforts
• Create and deliver best practice recommendations, blog posts, and presentations to stakeholders
• Provide customer and market feedback to Product and Engineering teams to help define product direction

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field
• 5+ years of people management experience
• Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions
• Experience hiring and leading experienced scientists and developing junior members
• 10+ years as a scientist or science manager

Nice to Have:

• PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field
• 10+ years of practical work applying ML to solve complex problems for large-scale applications
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• 5+ years of hands-on work in big data, machine learning and natural language processing
• Experience with AWS technologies for machine learning like SageMaker, Bedrock, S3, and EC2
