About the Role

Senior Hardware Design Engineer at Microsoft's DPU team designs and develops high-speed hardware platforms for Azure Datacenters. Responsibilities include board design, cross-functional collaboration, and validation. The role requires expertise in schematics, high-speed interfaces, and lab equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & develop high-speed boards based on architecture specifications
  • Work with cross-functional teams to review hardware functional specifications
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure DFM requirements are met
  • Review test plans with diagnostics & HW test engineers to ensure coverage
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of hardware defects

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in related field AND 4+ years experience OR Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 5+ years experience OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience in Schematics Design & PCB CAD tools like Cadence Orcad, Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics PADS & Cadence Allegro
  • 4+ years experience on high-speed interfaces like PCIe/CXL, DDR, USB, UFS, SERDES
  • 4+ years experience on Signal & Power Integrity concepts
  • 4+ years experience working in lab environment and using equipment like DSO, Power supplies, BERT & Traffic generators

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with CM/ODM, Fault isolation, & RCCAs
  • Experience working with Thermal Chamber & Protocol analyzers like PCIe, DDR, USB, UFS, SPI & I3C/I2C
  • Familiarity with Scripting languages like Python/Perl
