About the Role
Senior AI Applied Scientist role at Microsoft focusing on integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into products. Responsibilities include developing generative AI solutions, fine-tuning foundation models, and ensuring ethical AI practices. The role requires collaboration across teams to translate research into production-ready solutions.Key Responsibilities
- Research and implement state-of-the-art AI using foundation models, prompt engineering, and RAG
- Fine-tune foundation models using domain-specific datasets and evaluate model behavior
- Build rapid AI solution prototypes and contribute to production deployment with MLOps/AIOps
- Translate research into production-ready solutions and measure impact via A/B testing
- Apply responsible AI practices to mitigate ethical risks like bias and privacy concerns
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience OR equivalent
- 1+ years of experience with generative AI OR LLM/ML algorithms
- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years
- Experience in statistics, predictive analytics, or research as per degree requirements
Nice to Have:
- Experience with MLOps Workflows, including CI/CD, monitoring, and retraining pipelines
- Familiarity with modern LLMOps frameworks (e.g., LangChain, PromptFlow)
- Experience developing and deploying live production systems in C#, Java, React/Angular, TypeScript
- 3+ years of experience publishing in peer-reviewed venues or filing patents
- 3+ years of experience conducting research in academic or industry settings
