About the Role

This is a PhD internship role focused on developing physics-based simulation algorithms for avatars and robotics. The intern will research and prototype novel methods for body, cloth, hair, and deformable object modeling in AR/VR contexts. The position involves collaboration with researchers and requires expertise in computer vision, graphics, and simulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, design and develop novel algorithms for body, cloth, hair modeling, simulation, and animation
  • Prototyping, building and analysis of experimental systems
  • Design and execution of algorithms
  • Collaboration with and support of other researchers across various disciplines
  • Communication of research agenda, progress and results

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in Computer Vision, Graphics, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related field
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at time of hire and maintain it
  • Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Experience with computer vision, 3D geometry, character animation and/or linear algebra
  • 2+ years of experience with C, C++, and/or Python

Nice to Have:

  • Intent to return to degree-program after the internship
  • 2+ years of experience in physics-based simulation, 3D geometry reconstruction, robotics, non-rigid deformation, shape representation, numerical optimization, or deep learning
  • Proven track record with accepted papers at top conferences like SIGGRAPH, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS
