About the Role

This is a PhD-level research scientist internship focused on AI system software/hardware co-design. The intern will work on optimizing next-generation AI workloads through concurrent design of models, algorithms, and hardware infrastructure. The role involves research, collaboration across disciplines, and contributing to Meta's AI hardware roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support research accelerating ML applications over software, system and accelerator architectures
  • Work towards long-term ambitious research goals while identifying intermediate milestones
  • Lead and collaborate on research projects with researchers and engineers across diverse disciplines
  • Communicate research agenda, progress and results
  • Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Currently has or is in process of obtaining PhD in Computer Science or related STEM field
  • Knowledge of Hardware Architecture and Distributed systems with interest in High Performance Computing, Numerics, Performance, or AI hardware
  • 2+ years experience in High Performance Computing, Numerics, Performance or AI hardware including compute, networking and storage
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at time of hire and maintain ongoing authorization

Nice to Have:

  • Track record of achieving results demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at leading conferences
  • Experience or knowledge in developing and debugging in C/C++, Python and/or PyTorch
  • Experience driving original scholarship in collaboration with a team
  • Experience leading a team in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
  • Experience in theoretical and empirical research
  • Experience communicating research for public audiences of peers
  • Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
  • Intent to return to degree program after internship completion
