About the Role

The Research Scientist will design and model novel superconducting quantum devices, including qubits and quantum processors, at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing. Candidates need a PhD and expertise in quantum mechanics, with a preference for those with original scientific contributions or software development experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and model novel superconducting quantum devices
  • Develop qubits, readout and control schemes
  • Work on advanced quantum processors
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians
  • Apply strong engineering principles and resourcefulness

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of quantum mechanics with expertise in quantum technologies, superconducting qubits, or related topics
  • Proficient in a scientific programming environment
  • U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or eligibility for export license

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with microwave and/or multiphysics modeling software (e.g., COMSOL, Sonnet, ANSYS)
  • Experience with device layout scripting and automation
  • Effective teamwork with engineers, scientists, and technicians of varying skill levels
