About the Role

Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join their Large Language Model (LLM) Research team, focusing on building state-of-the-art generative AI models like Llama 2. The role involves designing infrastructure, conducting experiments, and contributing to open-source efforts in language model evaluation, alignment, and efficient training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design methods, tools, and infrastructure for large language models
  • Define research goals informed by engineering concerns
  • Contribute to experiments including coding, evaluations, and organizing results
  • Adapt machine learning methods for parallel environments like distributed clusters and GPUs
  • Work with a globally distributed team and contribute to publications

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Research experience in machine learning, deep learning, and/or natural language processing
  • Experience developing machine learning models at scale from inception to impact
  • Programming experience in Python and hands-on experience with frameworks like PyTorch

Nice to Have:

  • PhD in AI, computer science, data science, or related fields
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field
  • First author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL)
  • Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research
