About the Role
The AWS Center for Quantum Computing seeks an Applied Scientist to develop numerical methods and software tools for simulating quantum processor devices. This role involves creating simulation tools for circuit-QED level device modeling and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve quantum processor design challenges.Key Responsibilities
- Develop numerical methods and software tools for simulating quantum processor devices
- Create simulation tools for circuit-QED level device modeling to compute static and dynamical properties
- Collaborate with device theorists, designers, and experimentalists to solve quantum processor design problems
- Research and develop methods and algorithms to improve quantum processor workflows
- Develop and test high-quality implementations and demonstrate them for target applications
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must Have:
- PhD or Master's degree with 5+ years in science, technology, engineering or related field
- Experience with patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++
- Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
- Experience with modeling quantum devices using circuit Quantum Electrodynamics, numerical simulation of quantum many-body systems, or application of machine-learning methods to science/engineering problems
Nice to Have:
- Experience in professional software development
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
- Fluency in Python, Julia, C++, or Rust
- Experience with QuTiP, QuantumOptics.jl, scQubits, SQcircuit or related quantum software packages
- Experience with JAX, PyTorch or other python-based solutions for automatic differentiation or GPU acceleration
