About the Role

Principal Software Engineering Manager role leading a core team for Liquid, a large data-centric cloud service managing terabytes of AI-infused data for governance, compliance, and risk management across Microsoft. The role involves working with modern cloud technologies, data systems, and machine learning while maintaining work/life balance and building long-term value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers to design and deliver software features
• Recruit, grow and retain software engineers
• Full engagement in agile-based software development life cycle including DRI rotation
• Improve customer experience through quantitative service monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards
• Make the Liquid service more reliable and increase customers' trust in Microsoft

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience
• Coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• 1+ year experience with people management: recruiting, technical leadership, mentorship, performance management
• Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years

Nice to Have:

• Experience building and running a large service on Azure
• Experience building complex and large-scale data systems
