About the Role

Principal Software Engineer role focused on architecting next-generation networking frameworks for Azure container services. Responsibilities include developing eBPF-based connectivity, observability, and security extensions, building agentic AI systems for automated troubleshooting, and collaborating with open-source communities like Cilium and Retina.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead scalable networking services for AKS, ACA, and AI runtimes
  • Develop eBPF-driven connectivity, observability, and security extensions with OSS communities
  • Build agentic AI systems using LLMs for automated remediation and threat detection
  • Influence architecture across Azure Networking, Compute, and AI Platform teams
  • Mentor engineers and foster inclusive, growth-mindset culture

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent
  • 5+ years designing large-scale, mission-critical cloud services
  • 3+ years expertise in container and Kubernetes networking (CNI, eBPF, service meshes)
  • 2+ years contributing to major open source projects (Cilium, eBPF, Kubernetes or similar)

Nice to Have:

  • 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages like C, C++, Go, Rust, Python
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field AND 8+ years experience
  • 1+ year experience applying AI/ML techniques (LLMs, anomaly detection, reinforcement learning) to systems/networking
