About the Role

Principal Engineering Manager role leading the OneDrive/SharePoint Core Engineering team at Microsoft. Responsible for building resilient systems, solving scale challenges, and guiding a team of engineers while partnering across Office, Azure, and Microsoft365. Focuses on improving core fundamentals, adding critical features, and leveraging machine learning at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a technically skilled team with strong culture
  • Solve difficult engineering problems to improve core system fundamentals
  • Partner with peers across Office, Azure, Microsoft365, and Research
  • Guide and mentor engineers with technical and architectural leadership
  • Embody Microsoft's culture and values

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience
  • 6+ years experience in problem solving, design, rapid prototyping, coding, and debugging
  • Experience developing large high-volume services with service-oriented development and cloud-based systems
  • Experience mentoring and managing developers

Nice to Have:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science AND 8+ years experience OR Bachelor's AND 12+ years experience
  • 4+ years people management experience
  • Experience in cross-group/cross-discipline collaboration
  • Experience working in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to be adaptable and agile in development
  • Experience as a technical lead or people manager
