About the Role

Principal Applied Scientist role at Ring AI focusing on computer vision and multimodal LLMs. Responsible for defining research directions, developing optimized algorithms at scale, and translating research into practical applications. Requires leadership experience and collaboration with Amazon teams to build integrated hardware/software platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Define key research directions in Multimodal LLMs and Computer Vision
• Develop long-term strategies and persuade teams to adopt them
• Participate in organizational planning, hiring, mentorship and leadership development
• Serve as key scientific resource in full-cycle development from conception to maintenance
• Develop highly optimized algorithms that work at scale

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field
• 10+ years of practical work applying ML to solve complex problems
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with computer vision, vision language models, deep learning, and/or natural language processing

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of problem solving, algorithm design and complexity analysis
• Experience creating novel algorithms and advancing the state of the art
• Peer-reviewed scientific contributions in premier journals and conferences
