About the Role

Principal Applied Scientist role focused on advancing AI and scaling agentic experiences. You'll collaborate on Copilot and Copilot Studio scenarios, driving innovation with measurable business impact. Combines AI knowledge with applied science expertise in a growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Master broad research areas and serve as team expert on industry trends
• Review business/product requirements and provide strategic direction for problem solving
• Identify and inspire research talent, build relationships, and advocate for research initiatives
• Document work and experimentation results, share findings to promote innovation
• Provide guidance on capturing processes and contribute to ethics/privacy policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field AND 6+ years experience OR Master's AND 4+ years OR Doctorate AND 3+ years OR equivalent experience
• 5+ years experience designing and building industry-standard distributed systems
• Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years
• Experience in statistics, predictive analytics, or research

Nice to Have:

• Master's Degree AND 9+ years experience OR Doctorate AND 6+ years experience OR equivalent
• 5+ years experience creating publications (patents, libraries, peer-reviewed papers)
• 2+ years experience presenting at conferences as invited speaker
• 5+ years experience conducting research in academic or industry settings
• 3+ years experience developing and deploying live production systems
• Experience architecting scalable, fault-tolerant cloud/hybrid services
