About the Role

The Principal Applied Scientist will lead the development of industry-leading multimodal AI technology within the AGI team. This role involves defining research directions, inventing new ML techniques, and translating research into practical applications while providing technical leadership and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Define key research directions and develop long-term strategies for AGI technology
• Invent or adopt new machine learning techniques and conduct rigorous experiments
• Lead scientific reviews, scrutinize experimental design, and align teams toward coherent strategies
• Participate in organizational planning, hiring, mentorship, and leadership development
• Serve as a key scientific resource in full-cycle development from conception to maintenance

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field
• Experience building complex, real-time systems involving AI, ML, and NLP with successful customer delivery
• Demonstrated track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects with evolving requirements
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Nice to Have:

• PhD with specialization in AI, NLP, ML, or computational cognitive science with 10+ years combined academic/research experience
• First-author research on scaling laws, evaluation metrics, data optimization in top-tier journals/conferences
• Functional thought leader sought after for key technical decisions with ability to sell ideas to executives
