About the Role

The Language Engineer will design data collection tasks, analyze language insights, build tools for data processing, and collaborate with teams to advance AI systems. This role focuses on dataset construction, linguistic annotation, and natural language processing within Amazon's AGI Data Services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design data collection/creation tasks and coordinate efforts
• Analyze and extract language-related insights from large datasets
• Build tools for data analysis or authoring using scripting languages
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to evaluate language models
• Handle competing requests from data customers

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Master's or higher degree in computational linguistics or equivalent
• 2+ years experience in computational linguistics or language data processing
• Experience with language annotation and data markup
• Experience with scripting languages like Python

Nice to Have:

• PhD in Computational Linguistics or equivalent field
• Experience in writing grammars and building FSTs
• Experience with statistical language modeling
