About the Role

Data Engineer I role on Amazon Music's Metrics and Data Platform team, responsible for building scalable data infrastructure and datasets that inform business decisions, customer engagement metrics, and product improvements. The position involves data modeling, ETL pipelines, and collaborating with product managers and engineers to deliver data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Writing high quality code/SQL and reviewing code/SQL across the team
• Ensuring timely delivery of assigned projects by proactively identifying risks and removing blockers
• Diagnosing and root causing bugs, bottlenecks, or inefficiencies
• Collaborating with product managers and software engineers/managers
• Communicating project updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• 1+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
• Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
• Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell, Scala)
• Bachelor's degree

Nice to Have:

• Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
• Experience with AWS
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis
