About the Role

AWS is hiring a Data Engineer to collaborate with customers and partners on data solutions using AWS services. The role involves designing data platforms, building ETL pipelines, and leading technical engagements to help organizations become data-first.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with AWS teams to help customers use AWS services like EC2, S3, Glue, DynamoDB, RDS, EMR, and Redshift
  • Deliver on-site technical engagements with partners and customers, including pre-sales visits and consulting proposals
  • Lead migration of existing applications and development of new applications using AWS cloud services
  • Advise customers on data platforms and assist with non-technical change management for policies and processes
  • Create packaged Big Data service offerings and prove use of AWS services in distributed computing solutions

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • 5+ years of experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Knowledge of AWS services including S3, Redshift, EMR, Kinesis, and RDS
  • Experience with Open Source Data Technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Pig, Spark, etc.)
  • Ability to write code in Python, Ruby, Scala, or other platform-related Big Data technology

Nice to Have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders (Japanese language preferred along with English)
  • Industry experience as a Data Engineer or related specialty with a track record of manipulating large datasets
  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating datasets from multiple sources
  • Query performance tuning skills using Unix profiling tools and SQL
  • Experience leading large-scale data warehousing and analytics projects using AWS technologies
