About the Role

The Data Center Facility Engineer oversees the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in AWS data centers. Responsibilities include ensuring safety standards, troubleshooting equipment, and supervising maintenance contractors. The role requires shift work and on-call rotations to maintain continuous cloud service availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow and maintain highest safety standards and foster safety culture
  • Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment like UPS, generators, HVAC
  • Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls) or key electrical competencies and theory
  • Fluency in English

Nice to Have:

  • 2+ years of data center engineering operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or equivalent engineering
