About the Role

The Data Center Chief Engineer ensures 100% availability of critical physical infrastructure supporting AWS data centers. This role manages electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment operations, leads engineering teams, and oversees maintenance and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management and leadership of DCEO Engineering Team
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports on critical facility operations
  • Oversee operation of critical systems like switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, and cooling towers
  • Data Center capacity planning and reporting
  • Respond to emergency calls as first level escalation point for facility issues

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
  • Technical training or degree in relevant field (electrical, mechanical)

Nice to Have:

  • 4+ years of data center engineering experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Experience leading a team
