About the Role

The Cloud Network Engineer II role involves designing, building, and operating Azure's global cloud network. Responsibilities include automating network tasks, troubleshooting live site issues, and collaborating with teams to ensure network reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Automate repetitive tasks to reduce implementation time and avoid human error
• Participate in on-call rotation for network incident support and restore service availability
• Troubleshoot live site issues and perform testing/validation of network devices
• Collaborate with internal business units and stakeholders to understand requirements
• Provide feedback and mentorship to other engineers while seeking mentorship

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2+ years (or 1+ years for Master's) in network design/development/automation
• 6-8 years of experience in networking industry or large-scale data center networks
• Experience in deploying/operating DCI and long-haul optical networks in heterogeneous environments
• Knowledge of DWDM, modulation techniques, optical control plane, and L2/L3 protocols
