About the Role

Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist to build industry-leading generative AI and foundational models. The role involves developing novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance state-of-the-art AI, working with speech, vision, and language technologies to impact millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques for generative AI
• Work with heterogeneous speech, text, image and structured data sources
• Build innovative solutions using Agentic AI to impact customer products
• Research and advance state-of-the-art in foundation models
• Collaborate with AI/ML practitioners, applied scientists, and engineers

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• PhD or Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Nice to Have:

• Experience with modeling tools (R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy)
• Experience with large scale distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark)
