About the Role

The Applied Scientist III role at Amazon Alexa AI involves prototyping, optimizing, and deploying ML algorithms in Generative AI, focusing on NLP or CV tasks. The scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor others, and publish research to advance AI state-of-the-art.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, experiment and build Proof Of Concepts advancing AI & ML for GenAI
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and execute AI projects
• Engage in effective technical communication across teams
• Publish research papers in internal and external venues
• Mentor other scientists and review their work

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• 8+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
• PhD, or Master's degree and 8+ years of applied research experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Nice to Have:

• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy
• Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark
