About the Role

The Applied Scientist II role focuses on developing generative AI solutions for conversational ad experiences within Amazon Ads. Responsibilities include driving end-to-end AI projects, training and deploying models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The position requires expertise in generative AI, large language models, and machine learning to enhance advertising and shopper experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end generative AI projects with high ambiguity, scale, and complexity
  • Perform hands-on analysis of data sets to build models enhancing monetization and shopper experience
  • Train generative AI and machine learning models, run experiments, and deploy at scale in production
  • Work closely with software engineers on technical designs and implementation of production solutions
  • Research new generative AI and machine learning approaches and collaborate with product managers

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • 3+ years of building models for business application experience
  • PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in professional software development
  • Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
  • Experience in an online advertising role with familiarity with advertising products and ad serving technologies
  • Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale
