About the Role

The Applied Scientist II role at Amazon's RBS Tech team focuses on developing scalable GenAI, NLP, and Computer Vision solutions to enhance customer and selling partner experiences. Responsibilities include designing ML models for task automation, text/image processing, and anomaly detection, while partnering with business and engineering teams to solve complex problems. This position requires expertise in either Computer Vision or NLP, with a strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning algorithms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deploy scalable GenAI, NLP, and Computer Vision solutions impacting customer content
• Develop novel LLM, deep learning, and statistical techniques for task automation and pattern recognition
• Define research and experiments strategy to iteratively improve AI/ML models
• Partner with business and engineering teams to solve large, complex problems
• Mentor team members and contribute to patents or publications

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field with ML specialization
• Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl
• Experience solving business problems through machine learning, data mining, and statistical algorithms
• 1 year of applied research experience with PhD or 3+ years with Master's degree in ML, NLP, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, or GenAI fields

Nice to Have:

• Post Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics with ML, NLP, or Computer Vision specialization
• Strong verbal/written communication skills for collaboration with research and technical teams
• Scientific thinking with a track record of thought leadership and field advancements
