About the Role

AWS AI/ML is seeking an Applied Scientist to work on foundation models, large-scale representation learning, and distributed learning methods. The role involves inventing, implementing, and deploying state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and systems while interacting with customers and research communities. Key focus areas include hardware-informed model architecture, distributed training, continual learning, reasoning, robustness, and model compression.

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware-informed efficient model architecture, training objective and curriculum design
• Distributed training and accelerated optimization methods
• Continual learning, multi-task/meta learning
• Reasoning, interactive learning, reinforcement learning
• Model compression, distillation, pruning, sparsification, quantization

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• PhD in math/statistics/engineering or other equivalent quantitative discipline
• Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
• Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

Nice to Have:

• Experience in building machine learning models for business application
• Experience in professional software development
