About the Role

AI Engineer II role on Microsoft's Office AI Team, developing AI-powered features for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. You'll work with frontier models, natural language processing, and collaborate across engineering, product, and applied science to ship production solutions used by hundreds of millions of users.

Key Responsibilities

• Ship features in collaboration with Product Management, Design, Applied Science and Engineering
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to design, prototype, and deliver AI-powered solutions for Office apps
• Prompting and evaluation of LLMs to deliver on customer scenarios
• Debug and investigate customer feedback and production usage of features
• Collaborate across engineering for code reviews, design documents, and techniques

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience
• 2+ years of experience coding in Typescript, Python, C++, C#, or Java
• 1+ years of experience building products that use frontier models (prompting, evaluating, fine-tuning)
• 1+ years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and/or statistics

Nice to Have:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years experience OR Bachelor's AND 5+ years
• 2+ years of experience developing and deploying live production systems as part of a product team
• Experience collaborating on hybrid or distributed teams across time zones
• Experience developing task specific metrics and evaluation datasets
• Experience delivering changes informed by customer signals to improve KPIs
• 1+ year(s) of experience with applied science
