About the Role

The AI Applied Scientist II role involves developing and integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into Microsoft products, focusing on generative AI, foundation models, and responsible AI practices. You'll collaborate across teams to translate research into production-ready solutions that drive product innovation and business impact. This position requires expertise in machine learning, data science, and AI to solve complex customer service challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and implement state-of-the-art AI using foundation models, prompt engineering, RAG, and multi-agent architectures
  • Fine-tune foundation models using domain-specific datasets and evaluate model behavior on relevance, bias, and hallucination
  • Build rapid AI solution prototypes and contribute to production deployment, debugging, and MLOps/AIOps support
  • Apply responsible AI practices to identify and mitigate ethical risks including bias, privacy concerns, and security vulnerabilities
  • Design, develop, and integrate generative AI solutions using deep learning, fine-tuning techniques, and classical ML

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field AND 2+ years experience
  • OR Master's Degree in related field AND 1+ year experience
  • OR Doctorate in related field OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience with generative AI OR LLM/ML algorithms

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with MLOps Workflows including CI/CD, monitoring, and retraining pipelines
  • Familiarity with modern LLMOps frameworks (e.g., LangChain, PromptFlow)
  • Experience developing and deploying live production systems in C#, Java, React/Angular, TypeScript
